Fiona Barratt ~ Beautiful Modern Design
Wow, can you say amazing! I just purchased the latest Vogue Living Australia, well the Mar/Apr 09 issue that is (they come late here). This magazine is a new staple in my monthly magazine purchases and the Fiona Barratt feature jumped out at me. It has so many elements that I personally like in home decor and is a great example that using basic neutrals (black, grey, white) mixed with pops of color interspersed is a beautiful and modern way to decorate your home.
The grey couch, white wall, black lighting with a pop of blue pillows. I heart the black and white photo here (especially the large scale) with a lovely vignette of another small frame, beautiful candle holders and again, a pop of blue with a small flower arrangement.
There is so much to look at in this next image. The very graphic vintage squared mirror is so sexy, yet a conversation piece on it’s own. Anchored at one end with a black base/white shade floor lamp and at the other with a lovely small table and gorgeous black candelabras. Once again, grey furniture, light colored rug, white walls, sprinkled with hints of color in the pillows… just perfect.
What more can I say, it’s gorgeous and a beautiful representation of how to mix neutrals and color. It’s a perfect solution to smart (and easy on the pocket book) decorating. Whenever you need a color change, simply apply them in your accessories such as pillows and decorations. Simply perfect. Simply modern.
