Add a little conversation to any room and add a functionality too with this tree coat stand.
Swedese Tree Coat Rack
In a complex world we yearn from simpler things, and nothing does “solid and dependable” quite like wood. This playful coat stand is a stylized tree, but then maybe this tree really wants to be a reindeer. It’s antler-like branches were created by Islander Katrin Petursdottir and Brit Michael Young for Swedish furniture brand Swedese. The tree comes as a “junior” or as an “adult” tree, in a freestanding or wall mounted version. The tree can be chosen in either laminated Birch veneer, white or black MDF. The floor standing version has a steel plate in the base for stability.
This lighting option is just so fabulous, bring the cabin to your home (or perfect for the cabin!). This Cathrine Kullberg Norwegian Forest Large Pendant Lamp Shade is just perfect to add that touch of nature to your home.
Cathrine Kullberg Norwegian Forest Large Pendant Lamp Shade
Norwegian Forest lamps draw on the classic Scandinavian tradition of using thin birch strips for lighting. The designs depict a delicately cut forest motif which, when lit, become more visible as the blonde birch veneer gives out a warm glow. Currently, Norwegian Forest comes in three versions – large pendant, small pendant and table light – but Cathrine promises that new models will surface on a regular basis.
Cathrine Kullberg Lighting was established in 2006, launching its first series of lamps Norwegian Forest this last Spring. As for Cathrine herself, her educational mix of political science, arts history, design and architecture, was topped up with a Masters Degree at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Designin London in 2000. An inspiring guest lecture by the London based designer Thomas Heatherwich eventually led to her employment as a project designer/project manager at his studio. Back in Oslo, Cathrine then worked as a project leader at Norsk Form, the Norwegian Centre For Design, and as a freelance journalist for a number of newspapers and magazines before setting up her own company.
The design and production process of Norwegian Forest has led to the creation of a group of skilled local manufacturers that avoids the need to use overseas mass production (which might be cheaper but would lead to a loss of quality). All parts of the lamps are assembled by hand in the designer’s Oslo studio; the birch veneer is carefully laser cut by a skilled airplane model maker, the steel frames are custom made at a metal workshop and the shades are hand sewn using natural leather lace.
Huset has so much to offer for modern choices, you won’t be disappointed!
Happy Shopping!
